Meet your coach

Jessica Lee Bodge (Maiden name Furman) has an extensive background in pageants in many ways.  In her youth, she competed in several pageant systems and held many local, state and national pageant titles.  Most notably, she was Miss Seattle in 1994 and Miss Des Moines 1996, for the Miss Washington pageant for the Miss America Scholarship pageant.  She represented those cities at the state pageant and was 2nd runner up to Miss Washington America as well as the talent and swimsuit winner.  She was 1st runner up to Miss Washington USA and was also first runner up to Mrs. Washington America.  She also was Miss Washington for the Miss National Teen-Ager Pageant and went on to represent the state at the national competition and won the talent competition. 

Ms. Bodge has judged numerous pageants including Miss America preliminaries and other pageant systems such as International Junior Miss State pageant for Washington.  She has coached girls who have gone on to win State titles for Miss Teen America, as well as state titles for International Junior Miss, and have coached for several other major pageant systems including N.A.M.; Miss High School America; and Regal Majesty.  Her own daughter has held several state pageant titles including Miss Washington Jr Princess and Miss Pacific Northwest for International Junior Miss and went on to win the International Spokesmodel competition, and was also 1st runner up in the international talent competition, 2nd runner up in Casual Wear, and 3rd up in photogenic in the international competition and was 7th overall in the world finals.  Additionally, she has provided hair and make-up services for photo shoots, and does photo editing for pageants and other events, and also does contract work for companies in the area for their social media platforms.  Jessica has also directed pageants such as the Little Miss of America Pageant and has directed other city pageants and preliminaries. 

Jessica has an extensive background in coaching children for talent competitions.  She has owned the Bodge Music Academy for 25 years and teaches piano, guitar, and early childhood music programs.  She studied ballroom dance, tap, Irish step dancing, competed in gymnastics, competitive figure ice-skating, directed middle school musicals and was a cheerleader for Mountlake Terrace High School.  She has been published in the National Piano Foundation Magazine, has modeled and acted in feature films and shows, and was a production assistant on the set of Batman Forever for Jamie Lee Curtis’ stunt double, Donna Keegan.  She studied piano performance, drama and speech communication from the University of Washington, is a board-certified group piano teacher, Kindermusik teacher and has taught music both privately and publicly in Washington for 20 years. She has continued her education by attending master classes and workshops throughout her career, and was awarded the title of Kindermusik maestro (an honor given to the top 5% of teachers in the world).  Her students have performed for numerous state and national competitions and many have gone on to study music in college.  Ms. Bodge has also performed for numerous events herself and has been the guest pianist for venues such as The Columbia Towers Club and Nordstroms, and has led musical story hours, and have taught educational classes for educators for the National Educator’s Association, Barnes-N-Noble book stores, Babies-R-Us, Third Place Books and numerous other places.  Her complete teaching background can be found on the Bodge Music Academy button on the home page.

In her personal life, when she is not working, she is a single mom of three very busy children and enjoys snow-skiing, traveling, adventure-seeking such as zip lining and snorkeling, crafting, playing piano and singing, and has a long skill set of some pretty silly things such as being able to walk on stilts to riding a unicycle.  She believes in living life to the fullest and has a strong faith in God!
